The Best Slumber Party Ideas for Music Fanatics!

It’s finally summer! This means no more tests, quizzes, gross school lunch food, or final exams. Do you know what else this means? It means more downtime which means… MORE SLEEPOVERS!!

Do you have a few of your musically geeky friends coming over to stay the night with you?

Are you freaking out because you have no game, activity, OR snack ideas?

Have no fear, your fellow musician, Jillian, is here! With the best slumber party ideas for music fanatics, there is no fail! Shall we start with some game and activity ideas? LET’S DO THIS!

Encore: Ever feel like your brain is 80% full of song lyrics? If so, this game is perfect for you! Encore is a board game that can rake in loads of fun with your best friends. The whole concept of the game is to basically be the one who knows the most songs or song lyrics.

What you do is you roll the dice and whatever color you land your peg on with either the words “word” or “category”, you draw a card and sing some song lyrics pertaining to the word or category on the card you drew. So let’s say that we rolled the dice and landed on a red space that said “Word”. We would draw a card. There will be two red words on the card.

The words we will use right now are “Monday” and “mind”. Now, we have to figure out which one we would like to pick. Let’s pick “mind” for now. A lyric example for this word would be “Just an old sweet song keeps Georgia on my mind”. It’s that simple! PLUS, it’s super engaging and fun 🙂

Watch a Musical: If you and your friends are ones to like music, you’re bound to like musicals, too! Even though there are thousands upon thousands of different musicals out there, a personal favorite ofPhantom of the Opera Mask and Rose mine is Phantom of the Opera.

This is a musical that can replace any horror or thriller movie you may had in mind to watch and would still be just as engaging and mysterious.

I would recommend it to any first-time musical viewer! If you’re a bit more in for the fairytale side of things, “Into the Woods” is a fantastic musical for you and your buddies to view the night of the sleepover! It’s quite adventurous and contains such a great deal of fairytale stories and concepts.

Get Your Karaoke On: Hook up your old karaoke machine that you have been storing down in the basement for no one knows how long! Set up a stage area, hook the machine and mics up, and sing your heart out!!

Singing karaoke with friends is an awesome way to show off your talent or just your plain, old goofy side. Heyyyy…. speaking of Goofy…

Voice Impressions: Have you and your friends hold a friendly competition determining who can sing with the best impression of a cartoon character (ex: Goofy) or even just one of today’s well known pop stars. This here activity could get VERY interesting 🙂

Pots Pans Musical Instrument Kitchen BandBand: Feeling super bored? Make your own kitchen-based band! This includes getting pots and pans from your cupboard to beat on with spoons and spatulas.

You could also maybe even find some old 2 liters you’re throwing away to blow into to get that bass-y sound.

Once you get a tune going for you guys to play, head into the living room and invite the whole family to come watch you guys perform your very well put together group 🙂

Now that you have some ideas about your activities and games, let’s get into the snack portion of this post! YUMMY!

Popcorn is a world renowned movie and sleepover snack that you guys could definitely enjoy. Or even simple chips and pretzels!

Not in the mood for salty, but instead sweet? No problem!

For this snack idea, you will need a cake mix, cake icing, and any color of decorating frosting you desire. First, you bake the cake from the mix into cup cakes and then you coat them with your icing.

But, we haven’t done the fun part yet! With your decorating frosting, you want to decorate your cup cakes with music notes!! You don’t have to be a great artist to do this… simple notes will do 🙂

For beverages, there are many options. For example, you could supply sodas, fruit punch, or even water.

To make these beverages even more amazing, you could make music note ice cubes from an ice cube mold! Now THAT is what I call a phenomenal beverage!!

I hope these ideas have assisted you in hosting one of the best music related sleep overs a person could ask for! If you have found these ideas as fun, please share!

Have any other thoughts or questions? Leave them in the comments… I’d love to discuss them 🙂

Thanks for the great list of ideas. Another one that comes to mind for me is that if you have an Xbox or a Playstation you could get one of those ‘The Voice’ or ‘Rock Band’ type games. While similar to karaoke it would also allow far more people to participate at the same time. Last time I played you could have 4 people playing instruments together during one song! Definitely worth adding to the list.

These are some really good ideas. My granddaughter was asking about having a couple sleepovers with her friends at our house this summer since we have a pool. I am going to share this with her.

Hey, I like a way to living up any event. This was very cool to read. Many times we are looking for a way to entertain company and you gave some good ideas. Especially when you have kids who have company over. Do you have more ideas?

Hey there Ronnie! That’s fantastic that you enjoyed my article!! Another idea that was given to me by one of my readers was to use a gaming system such as the Xbox or the Wii. A musically related game for gaming systems that I enjoy playing as an individual is Guitar Hero. It really gets the players involved! Thank you so much for reading my work and I hope you get to come back and visit us again 🙂
